Fore Coffee will make its international debut in the fourth quarter of 2023 with an outlet at the Bugis Junction shopping centre in Singapore.

Chief Marketing Officer Matthew Ardian said increasing coffee consumption in Singapore and growing demand for Indonesian coffee beans abroad were behind its expansion plans.

“Singaporeans are heavy coffee drinkers, even more so than Indonesians. They drink six-seven cups of coffee every week, based on our research,” he said.

Jakarta-based Fore Coffee currently operates 144 outlets across Indonesia and plans to open at least 30 new stores in its native market by the end of the year.

The specialty coffee chain, which is seeking group-level profitability by the end of 2023, is the second Indonesian coffee chain to announce planned expansion to Singapore this month.

Market leader Kopi Kenangan, which operates 850 stores in Indonesia and eight in Malaysia, is set to open two outlets in Singapore at Raffles City shopping centre and Changi Airport in September 2023.

Indonesian specialty coffee roaster and café chain Tanamera Coffee also operates nine stores in Singapore having made its debut in the city-state in 2020.
