Tomoro Coffee opens Jakarta roastery with 2,400 ton production capacity

Fast-growing Indonesian coffee chain Tomoro Coffee has opened its first roastery in Jakarta, capable of producing 2,400 tons of coffee annually. 
 

Founded in 2022, Tomoro Coffee has rapidly expanded to more than 500 outlets across Indonesia, China, Singapore and the Philippines. 

In a press release, Tomoro Coffee said the roastery will supply its stores with fresh coffee every 10 days. The move will also support the coffee chain’s ambitious growth plans, which includes reaching 1,000 stores across Southeast Asia within the next 12 months.  

The ATM Capital-backed business has previously mooted Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand as potential new markets.   

“This roastery is a manifestation of Tomoro Coffee’s commitment to creating a sustainable coffee industry in Indonesia, by building an ecosystem from upstream to downstream. Made with three production phases and using quality coffee beans, this coffee roastery has a production capacity of 2,400 tons per year,” said Star Yuan, Director, Tomoro Coffee.

Tomoro Coffee’s rapid expansion has seen it overtake Fore Coffee, Excelso and Flash Coffee to become the fifth largest branded coffee chain in Indonesia – behind domestic operators Janji Jiwa, Kopi Kenangan and Lain Hati, as well as US coffee giant Starbucks.  

The premium operator has previously outlined a goal to become Indonesia’s market leader by 2025.
