Stripped brew heater threads – Clive Warranty Question

I have a question regarding a warranty situation I'm having right now with Clive Coffee and my Lucca M58.

I bought the M58 in April 2022 and about 2 months ago, I noticed a small puddle under the machine every time I switch it on. After some email back and forth with the Clive tech support team, we narrowed it down to a leaking brew boiler. The tech team suggested replacing the gasket of the brew heater element. So I purchased a new gasket from them, drained the machine and remove the heating element.

After removing the heating element, I saw that some of the threads were stripped, a big part of the threads fell out right away (see photos). I'm no mechanical engineer, but to me, this looks like the person that installed that brew element totally over tightened the element and in process stripped the threads. That would also explain why a ~2 year old machine leaks.

Clive now says that they will service the machine under warranty but that a) I need to pay for the shipment to them (I'm nowhere close to them) and b) since I don't have the original box anymore I also have to cover the shipping back. Or I can go to some local service station, but then I need to cover all labor since Clive only covers the cost of the parts if they don't do the servicing.

For something that was clearly shipped broken to me, I'm disappointed at Clive and their policy.

Is that just normal? Any thoughts or ideas how to get my machine back to life? I'm afraid that it's not just the brew element that is stripped but that also the boiler itself has taken damage.
