Singaporean brunch-focused café chain Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) has launched in Hong Kong with a store at the seven-storey K11 Art Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Founded in 2013, CMCR currently operates six outlets in its home market alongside two stores in Malaysia and a single site in the Philippines – where it debuted in January 2024. The chain currently roasts its specialty coffee range in Singapore, where it also operates a barista training academy.

The K11 Art Mall has become a popular launchpad for international coffee chains in Hong Kong, with Greece’s largest coffee chain Coffee Island, fast-growing Chinese tea chain Chagee and doughnut and coffee chain Mister Donut all debuting at the shopping centre within the last six months.

US coffee giant Starbucks, Japan’s The Matcha Tokyo and Chinese tea chains Heytea and Naixue also operate stores at the K11 Art Mall, a seven-storey shopping centre and cultural hub featuring art exhibitions and creative workshops.

World Coffee Portal’s Project Café East Asia 2024 report shows that the total Hong Kongese branded coffee shop market exceeds 730 outlets led by US coffee giant Starbucks with around 170 stores. The market is forecast to reach 820 outlets by the end of 2028.
