The British Coffee Association (BCA) has appointed Nestlé UK&I Managing Director for Coffee Jane Aldridge as its new Chair.

Aldridge has more than 20 years’ experience with Nestlé in the UK and Ireland and four-years working for food and beverage giant in the Czech Republic as Managing Director for Beverages.

She has served as Nestlé UK&I Managing Director for Coffee since October 2019 and will continue to hold the role alongside her leadership of the BCA.

In a press release, the BCA said the appointment comes at a ‘critical juncture’ for the UK coffee industry as it faces new EU regulatory requirements on deforestation, packaging and labelling. She will lead the membership organisation’s efforts to improve the industry's sustainability efforts and navigate sustained post-Brexit challenges relating to international trade, tariffs and free movement of labour.

“I am truly delighted to be elected Chair of the British Coffee Association and I’m keen to support the association’s mission – to represent, promote and support all aspects of the UK coffee trade and industry. Directly and indirectly, I have been involved with the BCA since the 1990s, when of course our UK coffee industry looked very different and it is truly satisfying to see us in good shape today,” Aldridge said.

Aldridge succeeds former Caravela Coffee Head of Sales Krisztina Szalai as BCA Chair. Szalai has since become the Secretary General of the Swiss Coffee Trade Association.
