Canada’s Good Earth Coffeehouse has partnered with real estate firm Warren Smagaren Consulting to explore expansion opportunities in colleges, universities and hospitals across Ontario.

In addition to identifying prime locations for expansion, the Calgary-based coffee chain said Warren Smagaren Consulting will also help source ‘Master Developers’ in Ontario to facilitate future franchise growth and spearhead strategic initiatives.

Good Earth Coffeehouse, which currently operates 60 stores, announced a similar partnership with commercial real estate broker Marcus & Millichap in October 2023 to expand its store network with a focus on smaller-footprint sites. Ten new outlets have been opened since that announcement.

“Warren’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the Ontario market will be instrumental in guiding our grow strategy, particularly in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and retail,” said Michael Going, Founder and CEO, Good Earth Coffeehouse.

Founded in 1991, Good Earth Coffeehouse based its previous expansion strategy on acquiring coffee shop sites vacated by international brands during the pandemic. The approach, first detailed in March 2021, followed the planned closure of over 300 Starbucks stores in Canada and has resulted in an ongoing partnership with Indigo and Chapters bookstores. Good Earth Coffeehouse currently operates within 13 Indigo and Chapters stores.
