LISBON, Portugal – With just over a month to go, the most anticipated international event for Coffee Science researchers is approaching: the 30th edition of the ASIC Conference hosted this time in Lisbon. From October 27th to 31st, the rich scientific program will take place, featuring numerous invited speakers as one of its highlights.
The 30th edition of the ASIC Conference
Sessions dedicated to Coffee and Health will be opened by Dr. Richard Stadler, a renowned scientific advisor (Coffee and Health: A Critical Review) and Professor Rodrigo Cunha of the University of Coimbra (Impact of Coffee Consumption on Aging).
An interesting plenary lecture on a research hot topic known as spatialomics will be given by Professor Andrew Smith of the University of Milan-Bicocca (Spatial mapping of metabolites in coffee: Roots and beans under the molecular lens).
The session dedicated to Sustainability will be opened by Dr. Cécile CHÉRON-BESSOU, senior scientist at CIRAD (Environmental impacts of coffee, methodological bottlenecks and practical levers), while the sessions dedicated to Plant Science will be opened by the renowned coffee breeder and geneticist Dr. Benoit Bertrand (Improving the sustainability of coffee in the face of climate change by breeding new coffee varieties) and by the renowned scientist and phytopathologist from the prestigious Centro de Investigação das Ferrugens do Cafeeiro, CIFC, Dr. Dora Batista (Insights into the evolutionary dynamics of coffee rust: what have we learned so far and what does the future hold).
This will be followed by two sessions dedicated to various aspects of Coffee Science, opened respectively by Professor Zoran Nikoloski of the University of Potsdam (Predicting Dynamic Plant Responses Using Genetic Markers) and Dr. Lucas Louzada Pereira, co-founder and president of the Brazilian Mió Institute (The Science Behind Coffea Canephora: Microbiome, Chemistry, and Quality).
All sessions will feature numerous presentations by researchers from producing and consuming Countries, and there will also be poster sessions, which promise to be particularly rich.
It would be a shame to miss the opportunity to participate in the largest scientific event dedicated to Coffee Science, which has been a benchmark for the coffee sector for 60 years.
