Ditching Nespresso – Fresh Start

Hey fellow coffee lovers. As the title says, I’m about to ditch my Nespresso for various reasons.

I cannot find a decent coffee shop near me and I’ve decided to take on making my own drinks at home.

I started on some research on what I absolutely need as well as some optional equipment.

For reference I live in France, and I think my total budget to start with would be around €1k.

I mainly drink milky drinks and would be interested in learning latte art as well. On average, I make coffee for 2 people, around 2 per day.

This is what I have so far:

  • Coffee grinder - from my understanding the grinder can/should be on the expensive end
  • Espresso machine - something simple enough to use with a milk steamer
  • Portafilter - do I need to buy more than one? not sure about this
  • Milk jug - I assume something from Amazon would do the trick
  • WDT & Tamper - not sure where is the best place to buy these
  • Scale with a timer and grams that show decimals
  • Puck screen

Optional: Dosing Funnel - this is the only optional item I found (imo)

So, any suggestions on brands/websites or even some general tips before starting this journey would be extremely helpful!

Cheers 😊
